lawdymercy I wrote a play in 25 minutes!!! Okay/well I wrote a piece of a play in 25 minutes. But I DID IT! It was terriorizing/pressurizing/and sho’ly triggered my crazy gene…but man I’m so proud/so happy I did it.
First of all/I wasn’t alone. Other New Dramatists family that were in on the writing maddness include: Tanya Barfield, David Greenspan, John Guare, Sarah Hammond, Quiara Alegría Hudes, David Ives, Sibyl Kempson, Qui Nguyen, Daniel Reitz, J.T. Rogers and Jenny Schwartz. We were lovingly cheered on by staff, board, other playwrights and ND supporters. Once the scripts were pried from our hands, Top notch directors, along with some of the best actors in NYC bought the pieces to life (with a total of 15 minute of rehearsals). By 10ish (PM) everyone in the building witnessed the plays.
It was a thrilling ride. One I am so happy I said yes to. Especially since the event helped New Dramatists raise more than $50,000!! $WOOTWOOT$$!
My piece titled, The Place I’ve Never Been,
was commissioned by Gordon Dahlqquist,
directed by Clinton Turner Davis,
featured Kim Brockington and April Matthis.
