I was first produced at the Vortex Theatre, in 1990 by the Word Of Mouth Women’s Theatre Company, in Austin, TX. The piece was a one-wo’mn show titled, sonnata blue featuring Starla Benford. One day soon I will dig through my archives and scan in some photos. For now I will just say that this is the experience that changed my Life/put me on the Road to Being a theatre artist.

Till this experience I had been writing what swam in my head like movies/looked on the page like poetry/and sounded (to me) like music - I had a old battered suitcase full of it/with no clue of what to do with it or what to call it. Trying to impress a pretty gurl who said she was a drummer/I said
I’m a writer.
Long story short she was with Word of Mouth and I was following her
and well
anyways
I gave Rogg Wall (the Artistic Director) some handwritten pages
she called it a one-woman show
produced it
and
being in the room during rehearsals
with the great Starla Benford making Magic with my Words changed me/Saved me really
cause then I began to understand who I was/and where I Lived…
