I went to NYC to see my daughter
Sonja Perryman in Celia: The Life and Music of Celia Cruz at The New World Stages Theatre

Sonja is the “Swing” cast member which basically means that she is the understudy for all female roles in the show:
Celia the young woman
Celia the singer
Celia’s mother
and two female dancers

The weekend I saw the show Ms. Perryman blew the roof off in her role as Celia’s mother. Sonja also played other parts: back up singer/dancer/etc.
I LOVVVVVE THIS SHOW!!! I plan on seeing it lots more…

The cast was AMAZING!!
The show is produced/written/choreographed & directed by Latina/o’s . The Love Joy Respect and Pride that the show is done with is truly a tribute to this Beloved legend and is a Gift to us all.

I am so Grateful that my sweetgurl is able to be a part of this important production.
Thank the lawd Sonja’s two godfathers/Daniel and Shaka were with me to hold my hand and hand me tissues cause I waz half outta my mind with Pride Joy and Excitement. Here they are with the diva between shows:
