I am the 2010 2011 Visiting Multicultural Faculty Member for DePaul University’s Theatre School!!!
Along with teaching a course for the BFA Actors….
I’m teaching a course open cross campus (non-Theatre majors encouraged):
Theatre School Course #424-10
Seminar TuTh 2:40PM – 4:30PM
Finding Voice: Sharing Our Stories/Expanding Our Lives
Bridgforth will use the primary principles of the Theatrical Jazz Aesthetic* as tools for building community through the art of storytelling. Within the context of the personal as political, Bridgforth will walk participants through a process of giving voice to their identities-culture-memory-family histories-dreams to articulate and examine the socio-political realities of their lives. There will be a culminating sharing at the end of the course.
I will be directing a student production of blood pudding. The show will play 10/26/10 – 10/31/10 (off campus). For more about blood pudding CLICK HERE.
I’ll be hosting a lunch time series of informal gatherings in the lobby of the Theatre School. Guest artists, movies and special topics will be featured. Food will be served. Free and open to the public.
I’ll be curating and facilitating a Theatrical Jazz Aesthetic Institute for DePaul’s Theatre School at Links Hall Jan – June, 2011. We will soon send a call for submission to participate (it will be free and open to the public). We’ll be bringing guest artists in and we’ll have a series of events that will be open to the public.

blood pudding
blood pudding is a interdisciplinary theatre piece that celebrates the history of Black people in New Orleans. Through blood memories of a gurl born in Congo Square, blood pudding explores a landscape of magic made of Ancestral Love. In this polyrhythmic telling the blues is sacred. Narrators are holy. Indigenous people are honored. The drum shapes reality. This is ritual/jazz theatre.
